Junior golfers in East Malaysia and Bruneiusually look forward to certain golf tournaments in their golf calendar. One of which is the KGM Junior Golf Championship, Dato’ Sebastian Ting Challenge Trophy. This year will be the 8th edition of this championship.
It is going to be at KGM, Kelab Golf Miri,Sarawak. This junior tournament is one of the sanction tournaments of SGA (Sarawak Golf Association).
In 2011, it was held on the 7-8 June. Last year was the 7th year and according to Dato’ if God willing, another 23 years more. There were about 90 junior golfers who took part in the tournament. Players came from all over Sarawak, Sabah, Peninsular Malaysia and Brunei.
Since 2004, no entrance fee was required. This was to encourage and attract more juniors to this tournament. Despite no entrance fee, the tournament offers attractive goodies, prizes and lucky draws. This is made possible due to sponsorship from corporate sponsors and individuals.
The organizer also tries to inculcate good values to our juniors. The juniors are expected to donate any amount to this tournament. Collectively, these donations will be donated to charitable organization. Last year RM 1,000 was collected and donated to PERYATIM Miri (Kompleks Kebajikan Hamidah)
There will be a complimentary welcoming dinner on the first day of the competition, i.e. on 6th June, 7.45pm, at Imperial Hotel, Miri. Juniors will enjoy themselves with the friendship forged and the Lucky Draws…J
This year, the tournament will be held on the 6-7 June 2012. Juniors, who are interested, can contact any Front DeskStaff of KGM at 085-438190. Entry Forms are also available at MGA’s website at www.mgaonline.com.my and MALGA’s website at www.malga.org.my.
