Kelab Golf Miri, held its Annual General Meeting here at Kelab Golf Miri, 1st Floor, Function Hall on Sunday, 20th March 2011. Attended by more than 150 members of Kelab Golf Miri, including Kelab Golf Miri President, Y.B DatukPatinggi Tan Sri Dr. Chan Hong Nam, Deputy Chief Minister(I)Minister of Tourism and Heritage, Minister of Industrial Development, Y.B. Dato’ Sri Peter Chin FahKui, Minister of Energy, Green Technology and Water and Y.B. Andy Chia, Pujut Assemblymen. During the AGM, Dr Philip Raja was elected the new Captain of the Club replacing Tan Sri Datuk Jimmy Lau, who had served for 6 years.

In his acceptance speech, Dr Philip Raja paid tribute to his predecessor, Tan Sri Datuk Jimmy Lau who had been an excellent captain during his tenure. Dr Philip said “ Tan Sri Datuk Jimmy is a real gentleman of golf and has contributed so much of his voluntary service and donated generously to the Club”.
The main focus of the new Management Committee line-up is to focus on improvements of the golf course Greens especially on the Front 9 Greens and our President have pledge an amount of RM 20k to the club.
Other issues discussed and were approved at the AGM were;
(1) The three resolutions proposed by the Management Committee; to open a new class of Term Membership, to separate the monthly subscription of golfing family subscription into two categories, i.e. spouse and children under the age of 18 years old and the disposal of fixed assets.
(2) To fix a fee for Fixed Flight during in-house competitions such as Monthly Medals.
(3) To allow the existing 24 Corporate Term Nominees of Sarawak Shell Berhad and Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd to be converted to Full Membership Status at a reasonable fee.
During the AGM, the Treasurer announced that there was a sum of money in the bank account of the Club remitted by members that was unknown to the Club. He urged those members who had made such payment(s) to present with proof of receipt to the office soonest or this sum of money would have to be sent to Bank Negara which is deemed as unclaimed monies.
The Annual General Meeting ended with a golf Competition won by Mr. Stephen Dinggai with a score of 65 nett.
